For some reason, I felt like writing something rather spooky and creepy. This would likely be a prologue to something longer, or possibly a big flashback reveal with a surprise twist! Either way, Enjoy “Mill Creek”. Some creepy stuff in here, so brace yourself for that. Sorry if you were expecting something a bit more holly-jolly, but my muse was craving creepy.

The Charlatan
I like the idea of someone who pretends to be a complete fraud in order to be taken seriously. The idea of a true wizard being a street magician is interesting to me. The only way that a person isn’t under heavy scrutiny for doing the impossible is to prove that they’re actually a fake is an interesting conundrum when you can actually do it, but can’t explain how. I played with this idea a little bit today with “The Charlatan”. Enjoy!
Ted Harper, Wizard of Mystery
Personally, I love the idea of a wizard in the human world. Not even modern day wizards, but just not wizards in the company of knights. I like the idea of a wizard still helping people, but with politics and intrigue. While working this week, I had the idea of a wizard detective as the lead of an old 1920s radio show and ended up writing this over a couple of mornings before work. I recommend reading this month’s piece with a solo trumpet crooning the background, a slow fan rotating overhead, and a feeling of having lost before even starting to play the game.
Oromi’s Quest
I actually thought of this idea while working on another story. The character was also a fantasy writer (write what ya know, right?) and I needed something for him to write about. The idea was intriguing, so I decided to write that instead. Sometimes you gotta follow the muse where they lead you!

Winter always makes me sleepy for some reason. Long stretches indoors, warm cups of tea, huddling under layers of blankets…it’s just so cozy and feels ideal for a long nap. But what if sleeping through the winter was an option?
