Mira fears she has traded one prison for another. While she is grateful to be free of the trolls, living with LaBelle’s protections feels smothering. Out of the Under, Mira wants to prove she’s ready to live in the Above.
Her chance comes when one of LaBelle’s old allies is accused of murder. Certain there’s been a mistake, LaBelle fights to prove that his friend is innocent. Mira tags along to prove to LaBelle (and herself) that she’s earned some more freedom in her new home.
Meanwhile, Matt is living between the Above and the Under. When the dangers of the magical world become clear, Matt wonders where his duty lies: keeping the secrets of the Under safe or protecting his loved ones in the Above.
LaBelle’s case has the potential to bring out the best and the worst of each of them. A life is on the line and survival depends on the trio working together again.
